The answer to 1000 kid design questions is... de-clutter! The girls' room had been driving me a bit bananas and though they are tasked with making their beds and clearing the floor each day, things mysteriously end up under their beds, in their closet, under their dresser- basically, anywhere blank space exists! So I had one goal in mind with this refresh- it wasn't necessarily to make it prettier (though Target's new Opalhouse designed with Jungalow line pretty much took care of that!), as much as it was to create some breathing room and declutter. I'm no expert (if you saw my stories a couple of weeks ago, you know this!) but I have had a lot of practice and here are a few things I've noticed that help.

I always wanted this book set but could never stomach the price. I'm talking from the time Genevieve was a baby and I originally came across it. Fast forward 10 years later and I knew I wanted to incorporate a cute and classic set of books in the girls' room. I started searching and found a 1/2 set of the beautiful puffin books with a price tag I could handle and allllmost ordered them then and there.  But then I got greedy and decided the colors and titles weren't just right.

Initially, when I decided to pop in and share some updates in the girls' room, I told myself "not to make it a big deal." It's just about the modern rainbow art, I said. But now, I wish I'd changed their sheets and steamed their bedding. Ok, now that that's off my chest, I wanted to share some moderately real-time updates in the girls' room. Let's be honest, I'm not one for 60-day room renos. It takes me a while to finish a space, but I think that's probably how most of us roll in real life so I like the thought of bringing you along for the ride. Plus I thought you'd dig all the amazing plugin sconces on a budget, I share at the end!

I first shared about my plans for the girls' room literally over a year ago! It feels so good to share just a peek of it! I'm calling it phase 1--It can be tough to move quickly when the budget is tight and time is too. Breaking it down into phases helps me feel like I'm accomplishing something.
