If you follow on Instagram, you know I have the "magic" rug in our loft and, well, the magic has worn off. I'm ready for a change. That said, I have to add though that this rug has been so good to us and was GREAT for 4 years with 3 littles. It cleans up really well and goes with everything. So don't rule it out if you need a kid-friendly rug! I've been checking out Rugs USA (not sponsored) and found a variety of large-sized neutral area rugs. Fun, family-friendly. Try saying that 5 times fast. ;) Do you go out on Valentine's Day? Maybe I'm getting old (ok, yes. yes I am) but going out on February 14th doesn't sound as appealing as it once did. We generally have a date night around Valentine's Day but on the actual holiday, I like to celebrate with my kids too. When they were little, I'd host Valentine's Day play dates and it was always so much fun. Now that they're older we do a variety of things that make the day feel special. Here are some family-friendly ideas to celebrate Valentine's Day with your crew.

 

Usually slow and steady is how I roll. But since painting Dax's room was part of a sponsorship, it put my pace into overdrive. Here's the thing. Color changes everything! Paint is the easiest and least expensive way to make a dramatic impact and I am here for it. You know what I'm also here for? Color! It's back (I tried, but it never really left my home) and I couldn't be more excited about it! If you want to use color but aren't into saturated and bright tones, I get it. The trick is to look for understated, muddy (or muted) tones with depth. Dax's new paint color checks all the boxes. It's bold, it's blue, but it's classy guys. It's Clark+Kensington Gothic Iron and we could not love it more.
