Nadia's Fairy Party. From Last Year.

That's right. I'm sharing Nadia's fairy party from last year.  Just like I shared Genevieve's 4th birthday just before her 5th.  I posted a peek on Facebook but since I'm planning her 4th birthday I figured I'd share a quick look at her 3rd. If you remember, I was pregnant and due to have Dax less than 2 weeks after the party and Joe had just finished chemo and needed a last minute procedure the same week as the party. If ever there was a year to just have pizza and cupcakes this was it.  But I just couldn't do it. Instead I threw 2 parties- a play date party with friends (I discussed having day time parties and how awesome it is here) and a family party a few days later.  It was crazy, but I kept both parties simple.  I really liked how they turned out and Nadia loved them and had so much fun.  It was proof that parties can be fun and even cute while keeping things simple and budget friendly.
Food
Committing to buy all of the snacks for the party was freeing!  They were entirely store bought and all fairy themed.  We had fairy dust (pixie sticks), fairy wands (rock candy), enchanted beans (gum drops and jelly beans), fairy garden caterpillars (twisty hard candy), and garden worms (gummy worms).

Decorations:
90% of the decorations came from the Dollar Tree and Wal-Mart.  I already had the apothecary jars but you can get them here, but the moss balls, moss filler, glass teacups, star dish, and small glass bowls were from the Dollar Tree. You can't beat that price but I've linked them for your convenience here: Moss pebbles here, glass tea cups here or here, star dish here, and glass bowls here. I envisioned cutting the .97 tablecloths into a scallop edge like I did for Nadia's 2nd birthday but I ran out of time.  I also used a lot of wood that my brother in law cut for me.  Thanks Jeremiah! It totally took the decor up a notch and saved me from justifying buying lots of wood from Hobby Lobby.

My sister sprayed these stumps using a stencil and spray paint.  So pretty!
This pretty butterfly was 80% off at AC Moore. I hung it with twigs and little birdies, butterflies, and dragonflies- also part of the sale.

I loved this moss snail!  So cute! Here's a cute one that's similar.

 Favors
The most time consuming DIY was making these fun tutus.  Luckily I'd gone away with Joe for a few days and used some down time to make them.  The wings were from the dollar spot at Target.  But I love these and these. This was one of my favorite parts of the party! I loved that all the girls could dress up.  There was only 1 boy at the party- I just bought him an extra favor from the dollar spot to make up for no costume. I'd planned to make little gnome hats and beards when I thought there might be more boys in attendance.

Activities
Besides playing in the yard and a mini bounce house, we had fairy bird house painting.  The kids loved it!

Nadia had a blast with all of her little friends.  And after reminiscing I'm sad about moving.  I love our friends, loved our little back yard, and most of all I love my little fearless fairy! (good thing she's coming with us).

Can I get an amen for store bought cupcakes?!

I love how Nadia's friend Emily is the only one cooperating :)

Trying to corral 15 three year old kids is just ridiculous.

This girl loves dogs. I felt guilty for not choosing a puppy theme party. And we miss you Sierra!

Now on to plan this month's party!  Camp Nadia and Camp Dax here I come...
