Kitchen Command Center Phase I
4:08 PM
Buying a new home means you get to start fresh. I am not a naturally organized person but I'm slowly getting there. One thing I knew I wanted in this house was one place for mail to land, a family calendar, and a place to put notes/reminders. I was inspired by the beautiful command center pictured.
I love it. Like so much. But as pictured, it's a cool $500+. Um, not gonna happen (but I've included links below in case you love it too!). So I've been keeping my eyes open for something similar and finally found it at Hobby Lobby. Here's my scaled down, but still pretty and functional, version:
Mine cost about $75 (buying all items at 50% off). This is phase 1 because I have a few more things to do. I might add this galvanized mail holder (or I love this one from Target) for each of the kids' homework, and some art. The hutch seriously needs to be refinished. I plan to paint it dark grey. I've seen the color "gray" by Benjamin Moore in a friend's home and it looks amazing so that's my top choice before researching. And because hand lettering is not my forte, I plan to order some vinyl months for the calendar.

For the table top, I plan to add a tiered tray and/or a dough bowl and maybe a small crate or bin of cookbooks. But my West Elm chalk flower pot will stay- and hopefully so will the lone surviving plants from the grouping Joe got me for Mother's Day. (What's the opposite of a green thumb? Because that's what I have). So it's not complete but it's a start!
Unfortunately the Hobby Lobby pieces aren't available online but I've included the Pottery Barn pieces and some affordable options below so that you can create your own command center!
