How To Create an EASY Valentine's Day Snack Platter

Valentine's Day is on a Sunday this year with no school on Monday and homegirl wants to do. it. up. ha. This snack platter is one of many ideas to make Valentine's day fun and feel special (check out others here!). While it's not technically charcuterie, it has all of the charms of it, right? It's sweet- both literally and figuratively- and pretty. What more could you want? Keeping these trays simple can be a challenge so I thought I'd share how I do it and exactly what I used for this Valentine's Day Snack Platter!

Find Inspiration, but like, realistic inspiration
Sometimes I wing it but I usually find inspiration to start. This is also where things can go off the rails and you end up spending $100 on a beautiful charcuterie board that your kids won't touch. I heard that from a friend. So after I get inspo from a few plates, I pick and choose what I want to incorporate.

Shop for tasty & aesthetically pleasing items
Here's a tip. While you shop, place the items together in your cart at the grocery store to figure out what looks pretty. One place I always look for items for themed trays is in the seasonal section of the bakery. You can easily find pretty and yummy snacks to elevate the tray. In this case, the heart-shaped pretzels were that thing. Also, make sure to have a few good fillers. If you're trying to keep it budget-friendly, things like crackers, bread, cake, etc do the trick.

Choose a Vessel
A round tray is the easiest if you're trying to keep it simple. I love to use large rectangular trays where I can play around with placement but things can go flat if you don't have an eye for it. Conversely, on a round tray, you simply place items next to one another and it looks good!

Choose a Centerpiece
This can be a different dish like in the Valentine's Day Snack Platter here, or it can be a few small cups (I like to use our ramekins), or even a bread bowl. Get creative!

Get all of your ingredients prepped
You don't necessarily need to put them all in bowls, but definitely get them all out. If you have any chopping or opening to do now's the time. This way, you don't have to interrupt your groove to prep.
