It’s been a minute since I shared our primary bedroom. But this share feels different... almost from the get-go I wanted to replace our bed. Sure, it was pretty but when we painted the walls dark green, it was evident that the dark on dark just wasn’t it. Its' height and the nail heads felt formal, which wasn’t exactly the vibe I was going for. It’s funny how you learn your style over time. I've since learned that I like things slightly refined, but only slightly. I lean more toward cozy and relaxed. With the addition of the B2C Slipcovered bed from EQ3, it feels like we can finally start designing our room for real. I see some changes in the future but I love this start so much! Here’s a look! 

While we aren't able to fully gut our primary bathroom, there's something to be said for making a space reflect your personality and function better for you, on a budget and without replacing major items- in this case: the vanity, flooring, or tile. That said, I’m in the habit of re-doing rooms on the fly. A little here, a little there. And while there are advantages to moving slowly, there are disadvantages too, like not making progress, dividing focus (and budget!), and having to pivot as new additions don’t work with past progress. So I’ve committed to doing a things a bit differently going forward. Things like listing our goals, collecting inspiration, and making a mood board. Let's start with the bathroom. Here's how we plan to update our bathroom while keeping all the major fixtures in place.

The answer to 1000 kid design questions is... de-clutter! The girls' room had been driving me a bit bananas and though they are tasked with making their beds and clearing the floor each day, things mysteriously end up under their beds, in their closet, under their dresser- basically, anywhere blank space exists! So I had one goal in mind with this refresh- it wasn't necessarily to make it prettier (though Target's new Opalhouse designed with Jungalow line pretty much took care of that!), as much as it was to create some breathing room and declutter. I'm no expert (if you saw my stories a couple of weeks ago, you know this!) but I have had a lot of practice and here are a few things I've noticed that help.

I wanted to do a budget break down of the DIY built-ins for 3 reasons. 1- They were a lot of work and took a lot of time. I will never again question a quote from a carpenter. Beside time and materials, the knowledge someone has gained over time is so valuable! 2- They weren't cheap. So like, how much did we really save?! and 3- I kind of lost track on how much we actually spent. ha! I'll use this as an opportunity to get it all down and share it with you in the process! So here we go (I hope you sung that in your best AJR voice)
