Thrift Store Tour Plus Shopping for a Cause
11:18 PM
Hey Hey! If you've been reading Pretty Real for any length of time you know I love thrifting. As a kid, I used to go thrift stores with my mom and loved discovering unique finds or even just name brand clothing for pennies. There's something about thrifting that feels like a treasure hunt.
I recently heard this advice from an interior designer: every room should have a thrifted or vintage item in it- something unique that you can't find at a box store. As I look around my home, I think I've done that unintentionally. Well I just discovered a new thrifting source and besides the obvious pros of being budget and environmentally friendly (yay for recycling!), this store also supports a great cause. It's called Recovered Treasures and it supports an organization called Healing Transitions. Healing Transitions is a non profit recovery facility for homeless individuals with alcohol and other drug problems. Their mission is to break the cycle of poverty and addiction by providing a peer based recovery program, at no cost to participants. I don't know about you but homelessness is something I care about but often don't know how to directly impact. We participate in drives and make donations here and there, but I always feel like there's more I could do. One of the things I love about Recovered Treasures is that 100% of the proceeds from my purchase, helps support Healing Transitions. It's such a win/win.
Later I will be sharing a little room refresh for Dax starring an amazing find from Recovered Treasures! But in the meantime, I wanted to share a quick glimpse into the fun things you can find thrifting! Enjoy!
I may or may not have bought a few of these fun baskets. Small baskets are great to use as wastebaskets, plant holders, for toilet paper in the bathroom, or to corral kitchen utensils. They're so versatile that if you see a great one, just grab it! ;)
So pineapples are a thing. I'd give it a coat of metallic paint but it's pretty cute as is!
These peep toe heels are so cute! I know some people can't do used shoes, but clearly I can.
You guys! This almost came home with me. SO so adorable! It reminds of the little black one I bought Dax for his nursery. ♥
If little Mr. Dax wasn't running free in the thrift store I would've definitely come home with a few pretty scarves.
What kind of photographer am I that I didn't grab these?! I'm having non-buyers' remorse for sure. I used our vintage high chair for so many of the kids' parties- it was especially adorable for Nadia's circus party.
Another beautiful chair. I don't know if mismatched chairs is still a thing but I don't even care. This cutie needs to be at someone's kitchen table...
Give me all the open shelving!
Speaking of open shelving, something about these cool vintage containers remind me of this AWESOME kitchen spotted over on Domino.

These are just a handful of the fun finds there! I can't wait to show you the item I snagged for Dax's room!
disclaimer: I took these photos a couple of weeks ago- these exact items may not still be available but if you are local (Raleigh, NC) I encourage you to go find your own treasure! And let me remind you- every purchase you make at Recovered Treasures, changes a life.
The store is located at 4011 Capital Blvd. Ste. 109. It's super easy to find and parking is plentiful and free. Visit their site here.
Happy Thrifting!
