A couple of weeks ago I took a mama's day off. Being surrounded by my littles all day everyday is enough to crave some alone time. That day of shopping, eating, and drinking coffee was so refreshing and renewed my soul.  But it also made me ask: how can I steal a few moments of peace within my busy days with kiddos?  I'm often out and about with them at playgrounds, play dates, doctors' appointments, and carpool. Why not be intentional about relaxing when I'm waiting for or with the kids? Since I love coffee and am from New Hampshire where you can't drive 2 miles without passing several Dunkin' Donuts® Coffee Shops (I miss that!), I'm creating a "moment of relaxation kit" that will help me relax and enjoy my favorite Dunkin' Coffee Creamer anywhere. Here's how to create your own kit:

1. Have a cup of coffee and single serve creamers handy. Anytime I'm going to be waiting for my children in the morning or in the early afternoon I make sure I have a coffee. Now we can get Dunkin' Donuts® Coffee Creamer Singles to help us enjoy our favorite Dunkin' Coffee Creamer anywhere. They come in vanilla, caramel, and hazelnut and you can find them where coffee syrups and creamers are located at Wal-Mart. They don't need to be refrigerated so they're convenient to have on hand.

2. Include a favorite CD if you're waiting in your car.  This is perfect for those of us who have to wait in carpool line.  I've tried reading a book but with the kids, it's not quite possible but they can enjoy music with me. And I'm probably showing my age.  An iTunes playlist will suffice. ;)
3. Include a soothing scent or oil.  I included a "Dream Big" sachet. It can be left under my car seat for a nice relaxing scent instead of the smell of dried up cheerios and old sippy cups.
4. Add a fun magazine.  While I can't read a book while waiting for my kids (it takes too much focus), I can thumb through a magazine. And there's something so nice about looking at big glossy photos instead of tiny pictures on my phone.

Rather than impatiently sitting in the waiting room and stressing about the kids' behavior, why not be intentional about relaxing? If you're you're having delicious creamy vanilla flavored coffee, listening to Adele, smelling soothing scents, and looking at beautiful spaces (or people) in a magazine, won't you be a tiny bit more relaxed?  I thought so. ;)  These are all items you can throw in your purse or car to be ready to relax at a moment's notice.

So tell me, how do you steal moments of relaxation during the day?

    1. Have you seen the reusable k-cup holders? You put coffee in them and use them in the keurig. Obviously less convenient, but totally green!
