A Quick and Easy Closet Makeover
10:23 AMRemember the craft closet? One of the things I loved about that project is that we could easily convert it back to a closet when/if we needed one. Fast forward a couple of years and the time has come. When I made over Dax's room, I moved the dresser out but knowing how cheap, I mean, frugal I am, I couldn't quite let it go. Anyone else amazed at how expensive even "cheap" dresser are? I'm glad I hung onto it because with a fresh coat of paint, it made the perfect base for a quick closet re-do. Here's what we did to transform the craft closet back into a regular closet (no power tools required):
Then I bought a bunch of storage options but ended up keeping an 8 shelf fabric shoe hanging organizer, a 3 shelf hanging fabric organizer, 5 fabric cube bins (on top), and a few packs of wood suit hangers that I'm incredibly jealous of (you should see my closet. It's straight up terrifying). I'd snagged this basket on sale awhile back it fit perfectly! Oh and we also added a bar back to the closet. Joe cut it down with a hack saw and we installed it with these anchors we swear by- so easy to use. FYI, ours held more weight but I can't find them online.
It's a functional and cute closet with plenty of storage. Maybe one day we'll DIY or hire out custom closets but in the meantime I stand by the fact that you can make improvements on a budget (both your available time and your available finances), and this is an example of that. The whole thing cost us about $120. Here's a before and after and a few more photos, plus sources at the bottom!
