Nadia's Circus Party. Part I of... - Pretty Real

Nadia's Circus Party. Part I of...

12:46 PM

Part I of I'm not really sure how many. :)  This is by far the "biggest" party I've ever thrown and I've never gotten so many amazing photos at a birthday party before!  Before you start humming the song "your'e so vain," please note the photos I took were awful (I was moving at warp speed and it showed).  I'm totally bragging on this girl!  I'd be remiss if I didn't take a quick moment to thank Jordan Smelser of The Smelly Life.  I asked Jordan to "snap a few pics" and this girl takes like 1000 (and I'm only slightly exaggerating)! So here we go...

A little background: You might remember from this post the themes I tossed around in my head.  I even did some research on all three to be able to visualize them and help me make a decision (yes, I take this stuff seriously).  Well taking the time to research actually did help me make a decision...and I came back to the idea I was originally leaning toward (isn't that always the way?!), which was the circus theme.  I love elephants and had them on the brain since I am in the process (STILL) of re-designing Genevieve's toddler room with elephants as part of her decor.  I had a few cute items I wanted to use and the rest kind of slowly came together.

When I researched Circus Parties I saw a lot of red and blue.  Which I liked.  And I saw a lot of pink and yellow (probably because of the party I pictured in the aforementioned post), which I also liked.  But not one of them was perfect.  I really wanted something girly but still classic (and bold rather than pastel).  Hence my color scheme--red, aqua, and pink was born.  For some reason I can't help but add pink to like, everything (remember how I threw pink into this fall theme)?  Much like Genevieve's first birthday theme, I also liked the thought of using colors that I used in Nadia's nursery.  I was lucky that I had my fabulous sister in law design the paper products because it was hard to find just what I was looking for.

Ok so enough chatting for now.  Here are some photos of the fete.  I'll post more in the coming days and a source list (and maybe tutorials-not trying to make promises I can't keep!) eventually!

  1. Thanks for the shout out! :) You did an amazing job!! I'm starting to run into this problem...I wish I had more of a theme! It's hard to visualize when it's just colors/print. I am slowly getting there though!

    1. I guess the grass is always greener-- I almost didn't choose "circus" because I felt like there was WAY too much I could do (i.e. way too much $ I could spend)! But I think there's a lot of cute potential with your theme- especially once you solidify your colors. Can't wait for it to come together!
