Cheap and Easy NON-DIY Bow Storage. - Pretty Real

Cheap and Easy NON-DIY Bow Storage.

7:00 AM

First off, I will admit this post will be short and will barely qualify as a blog post. But when I have an a-ha moment, I have to share.  I have two daughters.  With lots of hair.  I also have a mom who likes to buy hair things.  Oh and I am a mom who likes to buy hair things.  So I have bows, headbands, barrettes, and hair ties everywhere.  It's crazy.  I really needed some bow organization.  I know you can find many DIY bow holders on Pinterest.  But I didn't want to do it myself. I know; check my pulse.
I just don't care enough about displaying them to put the time and expense into making something cute.  In fact, I knew displaying them wouldn't be ideal for my taste.  I mean, it's not as if all their bows match their rooms.  So when I was commiserating with a friend that our girls' bows were both in plastic Ziploc bags, it hit me: Use a jewelry organizer instead!  It's perfect.  It has lots of little pockets for lots of little bows.  It was already hanging on a nail in Nadia's closet (filled with shoes--I'll get to that in a moment) so all I had to do was stick the bows in.  And done!

You can get these organizers from discount stores like TJ Maxx and Marshall's or online here.  And as you can see from the picture below, there's a front and a back so plenty of room for your bow collection to grow.
I originally bought it to house Genevieve's baby shoes--also a very good use for it but I'm guessing most of you don't have the baby-shoe-buying-problem that I had.  I wish I had a picture (or could find the one I know I have somewhere) because tons of tiny shoes in this thing is just adorable.  If you do have my problem, it's a great way from keeping little shoes from all piling up on of each other. You'd be surprised that up to a size 4 or 5 fits easily.  So back to bow storage:  This is also a new found hair stuff organizer:
I keep all of their small bows, barrettes, and clips in this.  It was a gift but if you bought it new, it's $35.  Not exactly inexpensive but if you're like me, you might have something similar lying around. It works really well from a practical standpoint (love that I can separate items into compartments) but I wouldn't mind if it was prettier.
Promised this was short. That's it! I still need a solution for these 50 headbands taking up an entire basket/cube in her bookshelf:
Do you have a solution for me?!

  1. What a great "ah-ha" moment you had for the hair accessories! For the headbands, maybe a bolster-type baby pillow or something that they can "straddle" all in a row and be easily visible to choose from? :-)
