How I Chose the Grasscloth Wallpaper in the Entry
8:59 AMThank you Spoonflower for sponsoring this post. All opinions are mine.
I always knew if I ever installed wallpaper in my home, it would be grasscloth wallpaper. Maybe it's having a close college friend who's a professional designer but even before I knew the difference between the terms renovate and remodel, I knew I loved grasscloth. When Spoonflower asked if I'd be interested in introducing you to their brand new grasscloth wallpaper, I was all "1000 times YES!" The only tricky part was choosing a pattern. That's right- I said pattern! Spoonflower can now print any pattern (and there are thousands!) onto grasscloth wallpaper and if that's not feeding two birds with one scone, I don't know what is. I've heard from many of you that finding a wallpaper pattern you love- on Spoonflower- is daunting, so today I'm sharing my tips to choose a favorite plus a discount code for you!
Tips on Choosing the Perfect Wallpaper
Just find one- it doesn't have to be THE one. Perusing 1000s of options can feel super overwhelming. But don't fret. Just find ONE you like initially. Then click on the designer of that specific paper to see others with a similar look. You're sure to find a few more to add to your list.
Don't ignore the suggestions. I always scroll through the suggestions underneath the option I'm viewing. Usually there's another I like (if not a few). Then, I follow the step above to find a few more!
Keep track. "Favorite" anything and everything you like. Don't limit yourself. Then go through them and delete those that don't catch your eye when compared to the rest. Another tactic is to narrow down similar choices. Saved 5 versions of stripes? Keep your favorite one or two and delete the rest.
Pay attention the search terms. Designers add descriptive tags to their listing. If you notice that many of your favorite patterns have the term "tribal" listed under them, for example, search that term specifically.
What's your favorite color? If you were going to paint a wall, you'd start with color! Take the same route with wallpaper. Searching by color is especially helpful if you're not sure which style you plan to go with.
Bottom line, finding a wallpaper you love isn't as hard as it seems with these tips. Wallpaper makes a statement in a room and grasscloth wallpaper really packs a punch!
A note on install- Spoonflower recommends professional installation for their grasscloth wallpaper. If you're a seasoned wallpaper-er you may be able to swing it! Our installer recommended using frog tape for delicate surfaces- I asked "oh any tape for delicate surfaces?" and he vehemently shook his head. No, not any tape, he replied. ha. got it! If you watched my stories, I used it and it worked beautifully! He also recommended Zinsser Shields Universal Wall Covering primer for the double cutting process and for any painting that needs to be done after the fact. Oh, and if my experience was typical, it can be difficult to find an installer so start calling around early! I don't think the labor has caught up with the trend. Wallpaper IS BACK.
